Grind Out the Stumps and Reclaim the Ground

Leftover stumps get in the way of everything — mowing, building, planting, and clean access. A tract that was “cleared” but left full of stumps is not finished ground; it is a field of obstacles that keeps the land from being farmed, maintained, or marketed at its potential.

Big Cypress grinds stumps out below ground level across Rayville, Monroe, Ruston, Bastrop and across Northeast Louisiana so the ground is usable again — one stubborn yard stump or dozens across a freshly cleared tract. Grinding pairs naturally with land clearing and forestry mulching: it is the step that turns “cleared” into “finished.”

The Problem: Stumps Keep “Cleared” Land Unusable

Digging or pushing stumps out tears up a big area, leaves craters, and brings up roots and dirt you then have to deal with. Leaving them means you cannot mow clean, run equipment, or build — and every stump is a future obstacle, sprout source, and eyesore that drags on the property’s look and usability.

Our Solution: Grind Below Grade, Leave It Clean

Grinding turns the stump into chips several inches below the surface with far less disturbance than digging — so you can mow right over the spot, set a fence post, plant grass, or build near it. The grindings can be raked back into the hole, spread on-site, or hauled off, whichever the job calls for. From a single storm-damaged stump to an entire cleared tract, we size the equipment to the job.

What Finished Ground Is Worth

Stump-free ground is what buyers, builders, and appraisers mean when they say “cleared.” It mows clean, works easy, and presents the property as maintained and ready — the difference between land that looks like potential and land that looks like work. If clearing was the investment, grinding is what protects it.

FAQ

Stump Grinding Questions, Answered

Common questions about stump grinding across Northeast Louisiana. Don’t see yours? Give us a call — we’re happy to help.

Call (318) 235-7597

How deep do you grind a stump?
Typically several inches below grade — enough to mow over, plant grass, or build near. If you plan to dig footings or a pond in that spot, tell us and we will grind deeper or remove more of the root mass.
What do you do with the wood chips?
Your choice. Grindings can be raked back into the hole and tamped down, spread on-site, or hauled off. For a yard we usually backfill and level; on a cleared tract we often spread them.
Can you grind a lot of stumps after clearing land?
Yes — whole-tract stump grinding after land clearing or mulching is a core part of what we do. It is the step that makes a cleared tract actually farmable, mowable, or buildable.
Can you handle big hardwood or pine stumps?
Yes. We size the equipment to the job, including large oak, gum, and pine stumps. Very large or close-to-structure stumps are assessed on the walk-through so we bring the right machine.
How much does stump grinding cost?
It depends on the size, number, and access to the stumps. A single yard stump and a tract full of them are very different jobs, so we give a free, no-obligation estimate based on what is actually there.
