Forestry mulching is the fastest, lowest-impact way to take back overgrown property across Rayville, Monroe, Ruston, Bastrop and across Northeast Louisiana. A single machine grinds brush, briars, vines, undergrowth, and small trees into a fine mulch layer right where they stand — so there are no debris piles to burn, no stumps to haul off, and no torn-up ground left behind. The result is open, walkable land that resists erosion and regrowth.
It is also the right tool for recreational and timber ground. Selective mulching opens shooting lanes, improves access, and encourages the new browse that draws deer and game — the same habitat-minded work Big Cypress is known for. When a job needs more than mulching, our crew carries it straight through to full land clearing, dirt work, or habitat improvement.
Traditional clearing means cutting, piling, burning, and hauling — several steps, multiple machines, and a torn-up site. Forestry mulching does it in one pass. The cutter head grinds vegetation in place and leaves a protective layer of mulch that suppresses regrowth, holds the soil, and breaks down into the ground naturally.
In Northeast Louisiana, where heavy rain and gumbo soils make erosion a real concern, that mulch layer matters. It keeps freshly cleared ground from washing or rutting before you build, farm, or hunt it — and it skips the burn permits and smoke that come with pile-and-burn clearing.
We mulch wooded homesites, overgrown pasture, neglected timber stands, fence lines, ditch banks, and recreational tracts. On hunting property we mulch selectively — opening the understory and cutting lanes while leaving the mast-producing hardwoods that hold game.
Every job is planned the way a fellow landowner would plan it: with an eye on what the land is for next. Owner Mike Martien has improved his own ground and guided landowners across Louisiana, Arkansas, and Mississippi, so the work is judged on usability, wildlife value, and long-term return — not just acres knocked down.
